About Sense
Sense is a national charity that supports people who are deafblind, those with sensory impairments and those with complex needs, to enjoy more independent lives.

About the role
As a Senior Support Worker (Intervenor) you will support people with congenital deafblindness and perhaps associated disabilities or complex needs. You will enable the individual to experience and join in the world around them as much as possible. This will be done by promoting the person’s social and personal development, encouraging their independent skills and facilitating their communication.

This support may be provided in someone’s home, their local community or work setting and personal care may be required.

Flexibility is needed as working times do vary and can include evenings, weekends and school holiday periods; we will however provide you with a rota in advance so you can plan your life accordingly.

A full UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle is an essential requirement for these roles.

About you and what we offer

The ideal candidate will have achieved, or be willing to work toward, a Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or equivalent). You will have had experience of working with and providing practical support to, people with learning disabilities and / or multisensory impairments. It is desirable to have a BSL qualification.

The successful candidate will have had experience of facilitating a person centred review, and ideally of using a range of person centred planning tools.

Working as a Support Worker at Sense can be incredibly rewarding; we offer the opportunity to work in a large, diverse and successful charity where people can develop their skills, knowledge and careers in a supportive and flexible environment. In addition we have excellent training and development, the opportunity for you to join our Group Personal Pension scheme and a generous annual leave entitlement.
