Job Role:

Take responsibility for the new vehicle logistics centre and mortuary care branches. To ensure the quality provision of funeral services through management of services whilst taking personal responsibility for excellent internal and external customer service, operating standards and protection of income, underpinned by our DOES values.

The post holder shall:

  • In conjunction with the Assistant Funeral Logistic Centre Manager, ensure efficient running of the logistics centre and associated functions. Utilisation of resources to ensure maximum performance regarding funeral service delivery.
  • Maximise delivery by the logistics centre and associated branches through monitoring of key areas and the implementation and control of quality systems and procedures. Ensure all functions are appropriately resourced to maximise care and quality of service provision.
  • Report back to the senior management team with statistics and work to agreed key performance indicators, particularly vehicle usage and funeral numbers.
  • Monitor client feedback regarding their funeral experience, review complaints, take timely actions and remedy identified shortfalls effectively. This is measured by the results from client questionnaires, which the Funeral Logistic Centre Manager should feedback to the relevant branches to identify the need for recognition or improvement.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, targets and key indicators for logistics and associated function performance. Review and take remedial action as required.
  • Monitor the budgetary control of all aspects of the vehicle logistics centre and local mortuary facilities.
  • Manage the logistics and associated roles to ensure adherence to all legal obligations and that procedures are in place for communication and effective management of issues noted.
  • Ensure that best practice Health and Safety is followed at all times ensuring that all checks, registers and records are kept to the agreed and required standards.
  • Furthermore take reasonable care for the health and safety of themselves and of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work.

  • Ensure 100% accuracy regarding all paperwork and records
  • Post holders must have excellent levels of literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
  • At least 5 years experience in funeral service or equivalent experience in a customer service or similar business environment.
  • At least 4 years experience at management level.
  • Full UK Driving Licence essential.
  • Diploma in Funeral Directing (Dip.F.D) and Diploma in Management preferred.
